Changes to the Landfill Tax Levy - Announcement from HMRC

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has announced changes to the landfill tax levy effective from 1 July 2008.
Statement from HMRC made on 26 June 2008:
"The Landfill Communities Fund
Payments made to ENTRUST by Environmental Bodies
Under the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF), environmental bodies (EBs) must pay a percentage of each qualifying contribution they receive to the regulatory body, ENTRUST, towards its running costs. The amount currently paid is 2% of each qualifying contribution.
However, HM Revenue and Customs has approved an increase to this percentage to 2.28%. This increase will apply to qualifying contributions received by EBs on or after 1 July 2008.
The increase will fund improvements to ENTRUST’s structure and operation and make provision for a replacement IT system.
