Attending Training Events

From our training pages, there are two ways to find out more about the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) and ENTRUST; through training days and our resources.

If you want to access our resources, please visit the Finding Training Resources section of our website.

We have now scheduled our training and open day dates for 2016, please look at the Training Booking page for details.

Training days

Our Environmental Body (EB) training days have been designed in line with feedback from EBs on last year's training programme, our training strategy and our Corporate Plan. You can read the latest report relating to our Training Strategy for 2015/2016 via the related document on the right hand side of this page.

The training days enable us to deliver our objectives of:

  • educating EBs to become more effective;
  • sharing information and knowledge across the sector; and
  • providing networking opportunities.

Basic Training

Our basic training sessions cover the following areas:

  • What the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) is and how it works;
  • Who ENTRUST are and what we do;
  • What projects can be approved and how this happens;
  • What you must do now that you are an EB; and
  • Open forum and questions.

Our basic courses are suitable for people from new EBs to new staff joining established EBs, or for those who would simply like a refresher on the LCF.

Open days

Since 2014, we have held an annual Open Day at our offices in Leamington Spa each year in June to allow EBs to meet ENTRUST staff in an open and informal way. At the Open Day, staff, trustees or volunteers from EBs can meet the teams at ENTRUST to get an insight into how we operate as the regulator of the LCF. The day provides an opportunity for new and existing EBs to find out more about the LCF and our role and responsibilities within it and talk through any issues they have about the LCF or their projects.

The Open Day consists of informal workshop sessions based on the key areas of Regulations and Registrations and also Compliance and Enforcement. These broad subject areas allow flexibility in what is discussed. For example, the day might be led by developments in the LCF and/or the needs of the EBs in attendance. We can discuss issues EBs are currently facing and focus on specific topics; the day's agenda is led by the attendees.

There will be plenty of chances to speak one to one on any issues you wish to resolve. For our 2016 Open Day we held various workshops to include a session on how to complete forms on ENTRUST Online (EOL) which provided attendees with an opportunity to increase their understanding of the administration required of them by the LCF. 100% of attendees at the Open Day in 2015 said that they would recommend the event to others.

Update and Exchange events

We run Update and Exchange events periodically to provide an opportunity for ENTRUST to update EBs with the latest on the LCF and provide a forum for discussion. Due to the nature of these events an agenda is not set until closer to the day and we welcome suggestions from EBs for any topics they would like to cover.

Update and Exchange events normally run from 10.30 - 12.30. Places can be booked through the Training Booking page.

Networking days

On 31 October 2015, we held our first 'Networking Day' for Chairs, Directors and Trustees of Environmental Bodies (EBs).

The overarching aim of the event was to provide Board members and Trustees with an update on their responsibilities and obligations of EBs in relation to the Landfill Tax Regulations 1996 and helped develop a wider understanding of the strategic issues impacting on the operation of the LCF.

The day also offered an opportunity for Board members and Trustees to meet individuals from other EBs and allow people to share common experiences and knowledge on the delivery of their projects. We hope to offer more networking days in the future.
