On 11 July 2014, after over 12 years service, Dr Philip Smith will be retiring as Chair of the ENTRUST Board. In addition Lorraine Clinton, Non-Executive Director, will be leaving the Board after six years service. Taking over from Philip as Chair of the Board is Dr Ann Limb OBE DL, currently an ENTRUST Non-Executive Director.
Ann is a business leader and social entrepreneur and was previously Chief Executive of the University for Industry, responsible with the Departments for Education and for Business, Innovation and Skills for setting up learndirect, UK online, DirectGov and unionlearn.
We are also welcoming two new Non-Executive Directors to our Board; Jon Carlton and Justin McCracken.
Jon is a Chartered Engineer who worked in the utilities industry for 35 years culminating in Board positions for two significant subsidiary businesses of National Grid. Jon is a Director and Chair of the Board of National Grid Electricity Group Trustee Limited and a member of the Institute of Directors.
Justin has over ten years experience acting in a regulatory capacity on the boards of national public bodies; the Health and Safety executive and the Health Protection Agency. He has also served as a trustee of a charity, the British Safety Council, and is currently a non-executive director of Ombudsman Services, a not-for-profit company which runs national private sector ombudsman schemes providing independent dispute resolution for consumers.
Announcing the retirements and appointments Christopher Welford, ENTRUST Chief Executive said: “I would like to thank Lorraine and Philip for their commitment and enthusiasm in supporting ENTRUST during their tenure, we wish them both the very best for the future.
We have been lucky in securing Ann’s move into the Chairmanship of the Board. Ann has considerable experience in leading a number of high performing organisations across a diverse range of sectors and has been an asset to the Board since she joined in 2012.”
On her appointment to the Chairmanship, Ann Limb said: “I am looking forward to taking ENTRUST onward as Chair of the Board, building on Philip’s legacy and continuing to take ENTRUST from strength to strength. I am also very pleased to welcome Jon and Justin to the Board as Non-Executive Directors. Their knowledge and experience will bring a new perspective to the Board and the management of ENTRUST.”
