Memorial Park habitat creation project, Friends of Memorial Park, Huyton, Merseyside

This is a project to make a series of improvements to Memorial Park in Huyton. The project will restore the wetland and make the Park a haven for wildlife through: - • Dredging to improve water quality and wetland planting to improve habitats. The wetland improvements will create new habitats and diversity the natural features within the Park • Remove the self seeding trees in the wetland to reduce leaf litter. This will reduce rotting material creating smells. • Wetland scrapes to improve wet areas • Introduce wetland and marshland species to enhance the wetland • Introduce a differential mowing regime around the wetland • Reuse the dredged arising on the Park to create wildflower meadows. This will add a habitat area and enhance the ecological value of the site. • Interpretation about the wetland to educate local people about is importance
