Abberton and Langenhoe Parish Council – Part 2

To provide a new play surface to existing playground adjacent to Langenhoe Villahe Hall.
The village playground, owned by the Parish Council, was built nine years ago. The membrane lining and playbark is in need of replacing to enable the facility to be fully used.
The membrane liner has become torn and shows through the playbark creating a trip hazard and no longer drains the surface correctly. The playbark has broken down over time and becomes saturated in wet weather. Children using the facility get very wet and dirty and weeds grow rapidly making it difficult to keep the site today.
The project involves removing the existing surface and laying a new stone surface with wet-pour rubber surfacing 50mm thick to an area of 300m x300m.
The completed project will enhance the playground and provided the following ebnefits:
– enable the facilities to be used all year round
– the playground will be cleaner and safer
– wheelchair users and adults pushing buggies will find the surface easier to use.
