Chappel Parish Council – New Play Equipment for an existing Playground

To provide new toddler and junior play equipment on existing playground in Chappel. Much of the equipment is constructed of old creosoted telegraph poles and is coming to the end of its life. Two substantial pieces had to be removed last year due to the wood decaying at ground level. The Insurance company for the Parish Council have stated they would like to see the existing equipment replaced in early 2007.
New equipment will conform to EU guidlines and there is acceptance in the village that the equipment has to be replaced. In addition there is also a desire to have more equipment for the very young. The site on which the play equipment is currently situated has been rented from Levings Trust for over 35 years. Money raised by the Trust is solely for suporting Chappel Church. A recent survey established that 80% of respondents from Chappel and Wakes Colne wanted to continue to use the existing site as a play area. The project has widespread support in the local area.
