Colchester Countryside Volunteer Rangers

To provide garden tools, equipment and materials for Phase II of the BIG Garden which is an organic community garden in High Woods Country Park, Colchester.
It began in 2007 and now provides (with funding from North East Essex Primary Care Trust) horticultural therapy for people with mental health problems and learning difficulties; a training resource to learn and develop gardening skills; a schools educational facillity and an attarction for visitors to High Woods Country Park, Colchester. Phase 2 of the BIG Garden project aims to enlarge the extent of the reclaimed area of garden, and develop the existing facility, therby ensuring productive use of the land and creating food production for the benefit of volunteers, clients and visitors. BIG Garden will also provide visitors with a better understanding of past land use in the Country Park with information and interpretation and by hands–on work.
