Collating & Cataloguing Important Archives at Gloucester Cathedral

The fabric archive at Gloucester Cathedral is an important element of its records, it provides those undertaking future repairs and conservation work with a full history of work done previously over the last 100 years, so that future conservation work can be efficient and appropriate. Access to repair archives saves both time and money, as otherwise costly research and investigation can be repeated. These include structural engineers surveys, borehole surveys, resistivity and geophysical surveys, plans and elevations and fabric history research. The archives would be made accessible to the general public, which they are not at present in a room close to the cathedral.
