Education Through Restoration

This project is an addition to 842916.001 title (Pathway to Social Inclusion and Regeneration of the Crumlin Canal Arm and the Main Line of the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canals) currently being progressed and will provide added financial support to enable the lives of the local community residence to be improved by: A. Carrying out the first phase of a major restoration scheme at the Cefn Flight of Fourteen Locks, Heritage listing as an Ancient Monument by Cadw. The project benefits will also involve creating environmental improvement works to the fringes of the structures, pond and pounds. B. Restoration of the locks ponds and pounds will encourage specific species of water related Fana & Flura to become established in there natural habitat as identified in the projects environmental assessment report. C. Members of the local communities are being engaged with the restoration project creating workable locks, improved public access, education and be part of a heritage skill training Please see sheet.
