Fingringhoe Parish Council

The project aims to restore the village pond located on Fingringhoe Village Green.
Many years ago a large willow tree which grew on the bank of the pond was felled after it had become too large and dangerous. The tree roots were left in the bank and have rotted away leaving a channel through which water is now escaping from the pond.
The fish will be removed for return after completion of the project. The water level in the pond will be dropped to expose the banks. The tree roots will then be dug out and the bank refilled and strengthened using clay. The pond will then be refilled and the fish returned.
A source of clay from a local field has been identified and will be used in the project to rebuild the pond bank to avoid having to import material by road.
