Greening Grimthorpe – Creating an Urban Wildlife Estate in Islington

To enhance wildlife habitat and opportunities for biodiversity at Grimthorpe House housing estate in Islington through a programme of habitat improvements that will also benefit residents and the local community. The project’s primary focus will be to provide a green wall using climbing plants on a 180m² blank façade of the buildings. It will also involve: planting 15 trees, shrubs and a 20m hedge; creating a flowery meadow area; and providing habitat piles, loggeries and bird/bat boxes and feeders.
