Greno woodland and Mike’s Field restoration

To improve wildlife habitat in a section of Greno Woods, including a newly acquired section known as Mike’s Field, with particular focus on invertebrates.
Ride creation and management – to create a mosaic of acid grassland, flowers, heather and bilberry to provide valuable feeding and breeding resource for a range of insects, including butterflies, wood ants and dragonflies.
Remove of invasive plant species and holly to promote wild flowers for pollinators.
Installation of fencing to enable Mike’s Field to be brought into conservation management for wild flowers.
Heathland management, to promote wood ants.
Pond planting for aquatic invertebrates such as dragonflies, as well as amphibians.
Creation of standing dead wood monoliths for saphrophytic (wood boring) insects, in an area where these are deficient.
