Layer de la Parish Council

The project aims to replace two memorial benches on Malting Green that were removed due to their dilapidated state after many years of use. Melting Green is a green open space in the heart of Layer. The benches will be positioned a short distance away from a pond that contains many and varied forms of wildlife. It is a popular resting place with dog walkers, horse riders and village people out walking. Layer has around 2,500 residents and while clearly not all will use these benches regularly, it is known that residents value the ability to use Malting Green and want to preserve it, and the pond, as a place of rest and beauty in the Village.
The Parish Council will fund ongoing maintenance costs.
The wood for the benches is from renewable sources.
