Let the Meadows Bloom

DWT proposes to purchase land bordering the Rainton Meadows nature reserve, serving as a vital buffer between the reserve and nearby housing areas. The land, consisting of improved pasture, hedgerows, and wetland, has been targeted for housing development, though these attempts have so far been unsuccessful. DWT aims to secure this land to protect and expand Rainton Meadows and preserve its current and potential wildlife value.

This project which will see the land purchase, and improvements to features of this land, such as wetland creation and the construction of a screen and bridge alongside planting works, has been approved the Biffa Award and has been hugely supported by the general public who raised the money required for the third-party contribution in a land appeal in a record 6 days.
