Mersea Island Community Association

The project aims to install two new ‘point of use’ water heaters, one in the gents toilets and one in the kitchen of the community centre.
The community centre currently has a boiler and heating system which is approximately 50 years old. The boiler supplies hot water to the entire building and it is considered old and inefficient.A three-phase plan was drawn up to change over to energy efficient ‘point of use’ boilers.
Phase I of the project involved the installation of a small point of use boiler in each of the male and female toilets in the bar area and another boiler behind the bar. This phase was completed 18 months ago and cost £1,700 was funded by the community association.
Phase II of the project provided a boiler in the showers and another in the sauna. This phase, which cost £1,200, was completed 2 months ago. CBC Minor Works Fund provided 50% of the costs and match funding was provided by the community association.
