Pakenham Water Mill – Water Wheel Repairs

The project is to repair the waterwheel. The waterwheel is the very heart of the mill. If it fails the last working water mill in Suffolk will grind to a halt. The sixteen-foot high iron wheel is over a hundred years old, and the buckets are developing serious problems caused by rust. There are 140 buckets and replacing them will be difficult and expensive. The work will be carried out by a firm of skilled blacksmiths and metal workers from Norfolk.
