Queen’s Wood Environmental Improvements 2

Working with the Friends of Queen’s Wood and the London Borough of Haringey, Froglife will be converting an old paddling pool into a wildlife haven to increase biodiversity and for local people to enjoy. This will include removing the redundant non wildlife friendly paddling pool and layering a clay liner to create a standing water body that is amphibian and wildlife friendly. Terrestrial wildlife area and hibernacula will also be created for amphibians, reptiles and other wildlife protection, hibernation and foraging. As part of the project three new ponds will be created in the woodland to support the new Standing Water Habitat Action Plan in London. Additionally we will be managing the ditches within the woodland that support some rare plant and species such as the Goldilocks Buttercup through improving light by rotating coppicing. This project will greatly enhance the natural habitat and attract amphibians into the area.
