St Andrew’s Church, Fingringhoe

Parish church of St Andrew’s Fingringhoe, is starting a major programme of repairs and restoration.
The project aims to repair and refurbish the masonry, timber, floor beams and roofs to the tower, south porch and old vestry. English Heritage (EH) rates these as Class A repairs to be carried out by late 2008.
EH puts the total costs at £153,807.50. EH has awarded St Andrews Church a grant of £23,000 towards the necessary eligible project development works, fees and VAT, which it estimates at £30,573.50. The PCC will contribute the balance of £7,574.
In addition EH has made an ‘in principle’ offer of £60,000 towards the repairs and fees identified in its report. Confirmation of this offer is conditional on the satisfactory completion of the development works and the securing of all funding by a deadline of 31st December 2007.
The project cannot be scaled down if full funding is unsuccessful as EH does not permit any changes to the approved project.
