St Giles Community, Heritage and Conservation Project

The St Giles Community, Heritage and Conservation project will transform an overdeveloped, unsightly space that invites antisocial behaviours into a useable, attractively landscaped and interpreted space that compliments the heritage townscape and Parish Church. This phase of the project will remove a dirt mound on the – approximately 1600m3 it contains spoil from the rebuild of the church at the end of 19th century. The mound will be removed as it is currently rendering a third of the total site and public space unusable, attracting antisocial behaviour including drinking and use of drugs. The space and surrounding area remaining will be landscaped to “green flag” standard.
