Stepping Stones for Biodiversity

Our project aims to connect green spaces and provide habitat for the conservation and
restoration of flying pollinator species in Wandsworth. Particularly focused on the
Spinach moth which has been identified as a priority species.

We will engage local people in Wandsworth in wildlife gardening and create a series of
“stepping stones” to help flying pollinators move between the large parks nearby
(Richmond, Tooting and Battersea Parks). We will create 3 large stepping stones by
planting in partner community gardens, and 45 smaller stepping stones where
participants involved in the project will take plants home to plant on their own balconies
or garden spaces.

During the project we will test a new design low cost kit and a process for engaging
people which could form the basis of similar projects in other boroughs at the end of the
pilot period.
