Wandsworth Breathes

The project aims to enliven the space between Providence House Youth Club and Platform 1 Cafe, working with young people from the two projects and engaging the local community in both the design and maintenance of the space. Through the project activities young people will gain confidence, connect to nature and create a useful public amenity, which can act as a meeting and relaxation place for all nearby residents – thus also encouraging greater community cohesion. Platform 1 Cafe will compost their foodwaste to provide compost for the space and a mixture of edible and wildlife friendly perennials will be planted, some of which will be herbs to be used in their kitchen. We will have clear labelling of all plants/elements and hold monthly open maintenance sessions to maximize the potential as an educational resource.
