Projects / Wetland Restoration at Hill Court Farm

Wetland Restoration at Hill Court Farm

The project is part of an ongoing wetlands restoration programme;

Phase 1
We need to establish grassland outside of the floodplain to facilitate better management on the wetland. We would like to convert the 5 arable fields to grassland, thus creating safe areas for cattle when the wet grassland is too wet or flooded. This will also enable the Trust to better manage grazing to benefit ground nesting birds.

Phase 2
WWT would like to convert the remaining 12ha within the floodplain to wet grassland. This phase also includes the restoration of 2 ponds which now need to be reshaped in order to improve their water retention capacity.
