Woodland Biodiversity in Bridgend County Borough

We propose a prelimary study to explore and document the biodiversity (both floral and faunal) of woodland surrounding the Tythegston Landfill Site in South Wales, including detailed biochemical analysis of the biota. Five woodland sites have been selected, and the study will provide unique opportunity to obtain detailed assessments of the ecological communities in woodlands surrounding landfill sites. The information will also allow accurate predictions of future scenarios. The project will be carried out in liason with the Local Authority (Bridgend County Council) and will result in more robust strategies for waste management in relation to biodiversity issues.
