Project Detail

This project will upgrade 560m of the path from near the Woodside Sports Pitches (NJ920094) to below Persley Castle (NJ912097). The path will be constructed to a 2m width. The public will benefit as it gives excellent opportunities for walks and viewing wildlife along the River Don. This project will replace the narrow footbridge over a small and seasonal burn near the football pitches (NJ920094) which is currently not accessible to buggy or wheelchair users or to equestrian users. A replacement crossing will be created 3m wide by creating a short section of piped culvert, subject to the SEPA General Binding Rules, GBR6. SEPA has indicated that this would be appropriate in this location. This narrow bridge also limits path maintenance and woodland management works that are possible as there is no vehicle access from this point to Persley Castle along the riverside.
