1637 Play in St George Park (a project team of the Friends of St George Park community group), Bristol

This is a project to replace equipment and surfacing within the fenced children’s play area of St George Park in Bristol and to facilitate a community-led redesign. The badly worn infrastructure was identified as needing to be replaced in 2016 inspections and equipment has been removed due to safety concerns as a result of this. The park regularly exceeds its capacity with families queuing to play.
The aim is to expand the fenced area by 1500m2, increase equipment to meet demand, improve accessibility, improve use for the identified age group of 6-12+ , and renew longevity to 20yrs+. The play area attracts visitors from wider Bristol, Gloucester and Bath, subsequently improvement of this facility could attract more visitors and positively impact local businesses and the wider community. The park is accessible to the public at all times. The only restrictions of entry to the fenced play area are no dogs and no smoking.
