(18036) - Maxey Community Association - : To re-point the external walls and to make good and decorate the internal walls, which have been damaged by the ingress of water

Maxey Community Association was founded on 15th May 1972. The hall consists of one large and one small meeting room, a well equipped kitchen, toilets (including a disabled toilet) and a storeroom. The two meeting rooms can be booked separately or together and both have access to the free to use kitchen. There are tables and chairs available for hirer use. An up to date sound and projection system is also available for hirers to use. The storeroom is available to regular users for storing of any equipment they use.

The pointing on the outside of the building is failing and water is seeping into the building causing the internal plaster work to bubble and disintegrate. Over the last year the applicant has also identified floors that need replacing, roof repairs necessary and external painting. These have been addressed either through its own funding or by grant funding.

The facility is currently used by Peterborough New Life Fellowship Group, dancing classes, Maxey Art Group, puppy training classes, yoga, an exercise group, craft group and baby and toddler group. The hall is also used most weekends for private bookings. The wider community have been consulted about the project and fully support the need for the project. The applicant has feedback from regular users and also from villagers who attend a regular brunch meeting. The nearest similar facilities would be in other villages, the closest of which is two miles away. There is no regular bus service between Maxey and any other village and no service at all to some villages, making them impossible to reach without private transport.
