19 Hills Improvement Project, Newport - Creating a Wildlife Haven (4929/D)

The overall project consists of improvement to a public open space. The first phase of the project (Installation of 2 benches. Planting of 5 Rowan trees. 70m wooden fencing and kissing gate to prevent motorbike access. Planting of hedge along fence. 2 Fingerposts with "19 Hills" written on it) was completed last spring. The second phase of the project will involve drainage ditches to channel overflow water in new pond networks. Creation of 4 ponds. Planting of aquatic plants. Path creation. Removal of trees. Sowing of wildflower seed/bird seed mix. Installation of 100m fencing around ponds. Interpretation boards. The Trust grant will contribute towards the creation of a wildlife haven.
