A community environmental centre working to promote an understanding of energy management

We are in the process of opening an interactive Environmental Centre. Children and adults can learn about sustainable energy and waste minimisation. The room will be used as part of the curriculum and will be available in the evenings to the local and wider community e.g. brownies, guides, church groups and O.A.P. groups. This will enable us to educate others about the importance of respecting and protecting the planet for current and future generations. We propose that the development jof our Enviromnental Centre should be the focus of Leyland’s sustainable energy activities. By adding photovoltaic panels on the roof, interactive displays in the room and linking power generated to prevailing and past weather and climatic readings, this will become a learning experience. life are to be taught to the community as sustainable energy and waste minimisation become a key part of our culture.
