A Living Landscape for the Suffolk Broads – Oulton Marshes

The project addresses the fragmentation of wetland habitats by acquiring, restoring and reconnecting the mosaic of wetland habitats at Oulton Marshes to create a permeable landscape through which species can move and respond to change.
We will achieve this by:
Phased acquisition of 53ha of degraded grazing marsh at Oulton Marshes.
Hatitat restoration – installation of grazing infrastructure, restoration of dykes and reintroduction of grazing.
Reconnection of Outon Marshes, Carlton Marshes and Camps Heath into a 135ha wetland.
Designation of the Oulton – Carlton – Camps Heath complex as SSSI.

Grazing marsh is a BAP habitat and in Suffolk around 2,000ha is designated as SSSI and Country Wildlife Site (CWS).
