A new Woodland for Rutland and Stamford

The project involves creating a new woodland area in Rutland. It has formerly been used as an agricultural site and now provides an opportunity to involve local people, especially children, in helping to plant some of the woodland’s 9,000 trees. Supported by a range of school-based activities, this woodland will provide an inspirational, educational tool and also an opportunity to learn about nature first-hand by planting trees and watching them grow .The new site will not only provide a significant new area of woodland but, on a practical level, connect Gorse Field Wood to Brooke Road and improve accessibility for visitors to both woods.
