A Wild Future for the Wandle II

Aim: To restore and reconnect 6km of urban river habitat in South London, securing a sustainable future for flagship species such as water voles by allowing populations to respond to climate change and other pressures. The project will be a flagship urban river restoration project, demonstrating how partners can work together to restore a funtional river corridor for people and wildlife.
1. Development and delivery of a holistic habitat restoration, creation and management plan for the River Wandle.
2. Restoration of high quality riverine and reedbed habitat along a 6km stretch of the River Wandle.
3. The project will link existing and new areas of high quality riverine habitat along a 6km stretch of the River Wandle.
4. The project will harness and expand upon local volunteering work by training and supporting a local group of volunteers dedicated to carrying out practical conservation, species surveying and monitoring and education work along the Wandle.
