Abbey Hall, Birmingham - Community Centre refurbishment (008228)

The project will upgrade the Abbey Hall where volunteers deliver a ‘Warm Welcome Centre’. It will be more carbon neutral by fitting: double glazed windows & Rain-water capture within this project together with LED lighting system & basement damp-proofing currently underway. Since Nov 2022 The number of participants have increased by 55% and volunteers by 40% which enables use to grow sustainability going forward. Free activities will include: ‘Warm Welcome Tuesdays’ -vulnerable adults and disabled/elderly people can enjoy social activities &meals to reduce social isolation: Activities Group –Arts & Crafts, Knitting, Crocheting etc.; Coffee morning; Food Bank & Food Parcels; Lunch club; Youth Social Action activities; Festival Meals (Christmas, Easter & other key festivals); Social Events where people from Cameroonian, Nigerian, Indian, Ethiopian, Eritrean, Irish and English communities come together to celebrate each other’s culture and traditions. Gardening Group – plant and maintain flowers and shrubs.
