Abbey Village Play Area Surfacing

The play equipment in Abbey Village Play Area was regurbished or replaced with high recycled content play equipment in April 2004. The old tarmac surfacing is however still very poor, it is uneven and cracked. This presents a trip hazard for children using the site and makes the site particularly difficult for wheelchair users. Drainage is also a problem and after heavy rain standing water makes part of the play area inaccessible. The project will provide a tarmac skim over the old tarmac surface, install drainage and replace the old rubber surfacing under one piece of equipment
