Abraham Darby 1st Memorial, Woodsetton Charitable Trust, Dudley

This is a project to create a memorial to Abraham Derby 1st for a roadside verge location very near to his birthplace at Wrens Nest in Woodsetton, Dudley. Abraham Derby successfully developed a process for making iron from iron ore using coke as a fuel instead of charcoal in 1709. He is thus often referred to as the Father of the Industrial Revolution. The charity has already been offered free iron and steel components by local manufacturers towards the project and ECT is being approached to provide a grant which would be used to fabricate it to put the components together forming the memorial.
