Access for All – Platform lift installation – Sahara in Preston Community Rooms

The aim of the project is to install a platform lift to access the first floor community rooms at Sahara in Preston. The recently refurbished community rooms (2018) at the centre are accessed by a steep set of narrow stairs. Since opening the rooms have proved very popular, however access for the less able and elderly is difficult. The lift will allow all members of the community to be able to access the community rooms at the centre and services provided. Sahara in Preston provides a range of support services for people living in the Fishwick area of Preston,an area of high social and economic deprivation.
