Acornfield Plantation ‘Access and Participation Project’, Friends of Acornfield Plantation, Kirkby, Merseyside

This project aims to build public access and participation in Knowsley’s only Local Nature Reserve, serving some of the UK’s most deprived communities. In order to provide a basis for general access by the public into this important natural site, and support the facilitation of organised events and activities, the applicant is seeking investment in the network of boardwalks throughout the site that afford access into the site’s locally rare wetland and woodland habitats and also the repair of a viewing platform. Additionally, the project will drive volunteer participation in active conservation work that will support the restoration and positive management of the site’s various important habitats.
