Acquisition and Restoration of Shapwick Moor

The purchase and restoration of 55.88 hectares of arable land, part of which lies within a site of special scientific interest and special protection area, just north of the village of Shapwick. The land will be restored to floodplain grazing marsh (a biodiversity action plan (BAP) priority habitat) thus benefiting birds of prey and a wide range of other wildlife including a number of BAP priority species.
Additional permissive paths and interpretation will enhance the public’s enjoyment and understanding of the area. Volunteers will also be encouraged to participate in the project.
