Action for Access at Barford Wood and Meadows

This 2-year project aims to improve access at Barford Wood and Meadows to encourage greater use by and involvement of the Rushton community, and to ensure that all uses of the reserve are safe and enjoyable. The following work will be undertaken: Replacement of the existing damaged entrance gate; Installation of a new bench; Installation of two new interpretation boards, to introduce visitors to the history, wildlife and conservation of the site; Installation of 4 grazing signs to ensure visitor and animal safety; Recruitment and training of up to 30 local volunteers to help carry out path and picnic area improvements, hedge restoration and coppicing work; Purchase of tools and protective equipment for volunteers and staff; Production of a leaflet for local distribution containing information about how people can take part in volunteer activities at the site.
