Addiewell Bing Habitat Enhancement Project

Addiewell Bing is a re-shaped oil shale bing situated in West Lothian. Woodlands and naturally regenerated scrub cover the majority of the site and there are also areas of heathland, grassland and marshy ground, creating a diverse range of habitats for wildlife. This project will involve: - Felling of lodgepole pine and replanting with native trees - Widening of wildflower-rich rides - Grassland management - Vegetation survey - Upgrading of reserve footpath The project will increase the area of native woodland and species-rich grassland on the wildlife reserve. Volunteers will be involved in the tree-planting activity.
