AEROX WASTE TREATMENT RESEARCH PROJECT

Aerox is a system for treating the biodegradable element of municipal solid waste (MSW) as required by the Landfill Directive. It has been proven on a small scale in two previous research projects carried out under the LTCS. The project involves the construction and operation of an aerox demonstrator plant at Cleanaway’s Pitsea Landfill and Waste Treatment Site to investigate scale-up and treatment efficiency issues. The development of this facility is needed to evaluate the process at near full-scale conditions and to determine the precise treatment efficiencies, timescales and final product quality.
