Alberta extension to Seasalter Levels

This acquisition will extend an RSPB nature reserve, Seasalter Levels in Kent by 16.4 ha and bring into conservation management a piece of land called Alberta. It has SSSI designation, but has not been expertly cared for over many years. It could be described as unloved wasteland in its current circumstance and Natural England has assessed its condition as ‘unfavourable no change’. This extension will enhance the biodiversity of 111 ha in the short term and bring a total of c221.4 ha into long term land management (and partial ownership) by the RSPB in partnership with various local councils and NE.
