Aldermaston Parish Hall, nr Reading – Hall Floor Refurbishment (2869/D)

The project aims are to finish the upgrade and redecoration of the main hall as well as keeping the floor safe and usable for generations to come. The oak parquet floor in the main hall was laid nearly 30 years ago. It has lasted well but the blocks are beginning to squeak which means they are beginning to loosen. The original protective lacquer has now disappeared. This means that the floor can not be washed and with the new decoration is looking tired and dirty. We also intend to re-open the original Victorian fireplaces and remove the modern hearths which are a trip hazard and restrict the usable area in the Hall, requiring further work to the floor.
The Trust grant is a contribution towards the hall floor refurbishment.
