Allet Common, Habitat and Access Enhancements

Allet Common is one of ten sites within a 12km radius of Truro that are collectively known as the Carrick Heaths SSSI. The sites tend to be small and in recent years have been neglected. The Cornwall Wildlife Trust recently purchased part of Allet Common and aims to reinstate management to enhance the wildlife value. This project will involve new fencing, scrub clearance and wetland creation. The trust will then introduce grazing. The site will then be used as a model for the management of these small, marginal areas of wet heathland. New access will be created and local volunteers will be involved in the work. An opening event will be held on completion of the works
