Amber catchment restoration at Doe Hill Community Park

The River Amber has suffered neglect, resulting in poor water quality and degraded habitat. At Doe Hill Community Park, we propose the creation of new wetland as a model for improving the river. Buffer zones will be created of varying depths of pools and sizes which greatly benefit BAP bird species; these also act as natural flood defences. Volunteers will be trained in conservation surveying to help otter and water vole, a BAP
species. They will also pull out invasive non-native plant species to help native wildflowers.
