Ancient woodland management and grassland restoration at Midger SSSI nature reserve

To manage the ancient woodland on a coppice rotation for the benefit of common dormouse and other woodland wildlife including; herb paris, lily of the valley, bluebell, noctule and pipistrelle bats, lesser spotted woodpecker and spotted flycatcher. Midger also contains areas of degraded limestone grassland which will be restored for the benefit of limestone flowers, chalkhill blue, duke of burgundy and marsh fritillary butterflies and a number of declining farmland birds including linnet, song thrush, skylark and bull finch.
