Anglesey Red Squirrel Project

The red squirrel is a Local Biodiversity Action Plan Species for Anglesey. Anglesey has one of the few remaining red squirrel populations in Wales, indeed in the whole of the southern half of the UK. The aim of the project is to conserve the remaining indigenous population of red squirrels at Pentraeth on Anglesey by a programme of grey squirrel control and habitat management. The project will reinroduce a new population of red squirrels at Newborough Forest, Anglesey, using captive bred and wild stock
