APE Project CIC – Development of neglected inner city playground/community arts centre

This grant will be spent specifically on refurbishing the old, unused garages and adjacent outdoor space as you enter the playground into a community workshop where we will run practical skills sessions, and where the Children’s Bike Exchange, which from August 2017 no longer has a home, will run from. We want to turn these dark, gloomy, garages into a real asset of the playground and a place to positively engage the local community with environmental issues such as recycling and reusing, building, and working with natural materials and learning traditional crafts such as using a bow saw and willow weaving. Using raw materials directly connects young people to the environment, developing chance to drop in and learn practical skills with their hands such as respect for our planet to keep it on course for the future.
