Aqueduct Phase 1 v2

There are several components to the aims of our charity; the most important is maintaining the integrity of the historic four arch stone flood relief aqueduct. The old canal approached the junction on an embankment crossing a flood plain. In order to maintain the flow of water across the plain the aqueduct was built into the embankment. It has stood for over two hundred years and if the arches were to collapse it would probably have to be completely removed.
Summary:
Finalising 20 year lease on project site.
Renovating the west wall of historic four arch flood relief aqueduct and commissioning a professional survey of the current state and the integrity of the arches.
Rebuilding the section of the regulating lock built into the aqueduct, including the wing walls.
Improving the section of tow path (public footpath) to the east side of aqueduct.
Provide post & rail fencing where required.
General landscaping and tree management.
