Aquisition of 16 Acres of Rare Flood Meadow in Upham Meadow SSSI

To purchase approx. 16 acres of traditionally managed flood meadow on a nationally important site; Upham Meadow SSSI in Gloucestershire. The site is home to rare flora and fauna, including Curlew, a red listed breeding wader that was once common in the Severn and Avon Vales but is in steep decline as a result of modern farming methods. Purchasing land at Upham Meadow SSSI will help ensure this valuable habitat’s longevity into the future. The Trust aready owns several parcels at Upham Meadow which are managed for nature using traditional farming methods and works alongside several partners on projects to monitor and conserve the Curlew population, the additional land purchased as part of this project will be managed in the same way.
