Arden House Garages Green Roof

The objectives of the project are to improve biodiversity and also to act as an educational resource which is, perhaps unusually for a green roof, easily accessible. This will be achieved by the installation of a viewing platform. The project will also attempt to source locally recycled or re-used materials wherever possible. By completing the project successfully it is hoped that it can act as an inspiration for others to take similar action and help to stimulate greater use of this method of roofing. There are a very large number of garages in the UK with this type of roof which would benefit from a similar treatment. If it is possible to prove that the community can deliver a project like this, at low cost, then other potential sponsors might be more enthusiastic about funding similar projects.
